Some Capitol Sightseeing

Day 12- Friday 28 October 2022

Our day started with our hosts taking us to Wausau Ice Rink where we would be collecting our bus, with driver Bob, for our onward journey to Madison. Our wonderful hosts waved us off around 9.15 am.

Arrived in Madison, where we had lunch in a Mexican restaurant called Canteen. After lunch we made our way to the Capitol for a guided tour. En route some of the girls couldn’t resist diving into a huge pile of Autumn leaves. Just a few yards on before we went into the Capitol building, there was a street entertainer singing ‘I Did it My Way’, and, of course, the girls couldn’t resist joining in. The Capitol building is magnificent, with marble, murals, paintings and lots of light. Before leaving, we all went to the top, where there was a stunning view of the City of the 4 Lakes.

Back on the bus, the next stop was Steve’s Curling Supplies. There were one or 2 purchases made, but no new shoes.

Then off we go again, this time to the Kettle Moraine Curling Club. Once again, when we arrived there was the broom arch. What a wonderful welcome. We met our hosts and were taken to their homes to freshen up before being taken to Delafield Brewhaus for a wonderful meal of fish fries. The night ended with Auld. Lang Syne, then home with our hosts.
